The World According to Cara

My name is Cara Postlmayr. I am a second year grad student at Bridgewater State University, Massachusetts. I was born and raised in Sylmar, CA. I have one older brother and one younger brother and sister. We used to get into a lot of trouble together when we were younger! It was always a blast when you came over to the Postlmayr house.

When I was younger my parents and grandparents introduced me to the sport of softball! I instantly fell in love. I enjoyed every minute that I was out on the field playing with my teammates. In high school I injured my knee. I sprained my MCL, dislocated my knee cap, and bruised my tibia. I had to go to physical therapy in order to get back onto the playing field. My physical therapist helped me so much and ever since that experience I knew my goal in life was to help athletes. I didn't know exactly what I wanted to do yet, but I at least knew what direction I wanted to go. I applied to California State University Northridge because of their well known Kinesiology program. I entered into the program as an exercise science major thinking that I wanted to become a physical therapist too. However over the years I was attending CSUN I ended up taking a course called Introduction to Athletic Training. The moment I opened the book I knew that was what was going to get my Masters in. I graduated CSUN in May of 2010 and started attending Bridgewater State University the following August.

My Grandparents and Me after my CSUN graduation

Since attending Bridgewater State University I have gotten to experience many different atmospheres within the realm of athletic training. I have worked at two division three schools and one high school. Every school is different, however I have loved all of my cites! I have learned so much over the past year and a half, that it even amazes me sometimes. My most memorable experience has got to be this past summer. I was allowed to opportunity to work with the University of California Los Angeles' football team! It was a blast and I am so very grateful for the opportunity. I do believe that I have school, family and friends to thank for achieving this goal. Without them and their support I don't know if I would be where I am in my life right now!
